Music
- Everyone can enjoy music, no matter how good they are at reading or writing. Everyone can sing and play instruments.
In music, we follow the Kapow music scheme.
From Y1 to Y6 skills taught are:-
- performing
- listening
- composing
- the history of music
- interrelated dimensions of music
Pupils are given numerous opportunities to perform throughout the year. A singing assembly takes place each month split into key stages so that the songs are at an appropriate level for the ages. Each class takes part in the harvest assembly, and a Christmas production. The school choir attends the annual Beacon Schools festival at Bolton Victoria Hall, sings at Bury market at Christmas and performs at Hollybank care home on 2 or 3 occasions during the year. Some of our parents at lunch include musical performances as well. Y6 also perform at their levers assembly.
During their time at Cams Lane, pupils have the opportunity to play tuned and untuned instrument, these include:-
- djembe drums
- glockenspiels
- boomwhackers
- recorders
- a variety of percussion instruments
Music is accessible to all abilities of children. It gives them a sense of achievement. Learning about music from different cultures, different genres and different countries adds to their cultural capital.
