Designing Waistcoats - Spring 1 2026

This term, Year 6 have been designing and making their own waistcoats as part of their Design and Technology work. They carefully measured, cut, and sewed their fabric, learning how important accuracy and patience are when making clothing. Although some parts of the process were difficult and challenging at times, the pupils showed great perseverance and teamwork.

The class explored the work of designers such as Vivienne Westwood to inspire their ideas, thinking about style, shape, and creativity in fashion design. This helped them develop their own unique designs and make thoughtful choices about materials and patterns.

Despite the challenges, the hard work has been worth it, and the waistcoats are already looking fantastic. The pupils will soon be decorating and finishing them off, adding final details to complete their designs. We are very proud of their effort and creativity.
