Dough Disco - Au1 September 2026
Dough Disco is a fine muscle exercise designed to aid children's mark making and writing. With daily Dough Disco, a child's brain learns to control the fingers quicker. Our whole-class carpet sessions involve moulding play dough in time to music and performing different actions, such as rolling it into a ball. The children also have access to play dough in provision and can continue to practice the moves as you can see them doing amazingly below.
Dough Disco goes hand-in-hand with Draw a Person. This is an assessment tool that shows how much of the child’s brain controls the body. When children draw themselves without arms, fingers or even hands, then fine and gross motor muscles need developing and strengthening. It is always great to see the development in the children's drawings, even after a single block of dough disco sessions.
