February 2026 - Art - Colour Splash
In Art, we started by looking at what our three primary colours are. They are red, yellow and blue. We discussed the word colour mixing. We learnt when you mix two primary colours together it makes a secondary colour. They are red + blue = purple, red + yellow = orange and blue and yellow = green. We then learnt the word 'hue' which means a pure colour without any white or black added to it. To make a lighter green we added more yellow and to make a darker green we added more blue. We then looked at the word 'tinting'. We started with pure red and each time added a little bit more of white. You can see the caterpillar body sections turning lighter as we added more white. We also looked at the word 'printing'. We used Lego pieces to create marks on the piece of paper. We tried to create repeating patterns. Lastly we looked at the word 'impasto' which means using a thick amount of paint on our paintbrush. We got messy during this unit and had lots of fun!
