National Poetry Day 2025

It was great to welcome back Sean today, an author/illustrator and poet. Reception enjoyed a poetry workshop alongside Year 1 called Silly Pie. The focus was on strings of rhyme. We sang with Sean, cooking up our own rhymes for the song. We had to put them in Micro-Dave which the children find rather amusing. We sang high and low and we could sing about anything as long as the ingredients rhymed. We had a pie made from a pea, a tree and a key. One made from a cat, a bat and a hat. Then, the children each had a go at creating their own pies, drawing and writing the ingredients. The children gave this such a good go, as we are very early on with our writing and even our rhymes. It was lovely to see them engaged and giving everything Sean was asking a go.
