Phonics / Early Read

I like reading and listening to stories. My favourite story is Room on the Broom. I know lots of phonic sounds. I can write the word cat and pig now

Here are some photographs of phonics in Reception and Year 1.

We follow Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised for our phonics, which is a systematic and synthetic phonics programme. We start teaching phonics in Reception straight away and follow the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised progression, which ensures children build on their growing knowledge of the alphabetic code, mastering phonics to read and spell, as they move through school. It also covers early reading, where the children focus on decoding, prosody and comprehension.

They have a parent section on their website with useful documents and videos which explain the way we teach, how we pronounce the sounds and the terminology used. Here is the link to their website.
